- Purpose of the Bursary
The bursary programme aims to:
β Support talented students who lack financial means
β Promote excellence in music education
β Ensure diversity and inclusion in access to training - Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
β Be enrolled or accepted into a programme at the Academy
β Demonstrate financial need
β Show commitment to music studies
β Meet minimum academic or musical standards - Selection Criteria
A. Musical Merit
β Performance level (audition)
β Technical ability and musicality
β Potential for growth
β Previous achievements (competitions, exams, performances)
B. Financial Need
β Employment Status
β Number of dependents / family circumstances
β Economic Background
C. Commitment & Work Ethic
β Attendance record (for current students)
β Practice discipline
β Teacher recommendations
β Personal statement
D. Academic / Theoretical Progress
β Music theory results (if applicable)
β School academic performance (optional but useful for younger students)
E. Contribution to the Academy
β Participation in ensembles, concerts, or outreach
β Willingness to represent the Academy
- Application Requirements
Applicants should submit:
β Completed application form
β Personal statement (motivation and goals)
β Financial Need statement
β Recommendation letter (teacher or school) or Audition - Award Levels
β Bursary (85%) * RECIPIENTS MUST CONTRIBUTE 15% OF THE TUITION FEES*
β Merit scholarships (for exceptional talent) - Renewal Criteria
Bursaries should be reviewed annually:
β Continued financial need
β Satisfactory progress in music studies
β Good attendance and participation
β Positive conduct - Conditions of Award
Recipients must:
β Maintain regular attendance
β Participate in Academy events (concerts, exams)
β Represent the Academy positively - Selection Process
β Applications reviewed by a Bursary Committee
β Shortlisted candidates may be auditioned/interviewed
β Decisions documented and communicated transparently
